Carla Bidwell is passionate about supporting neurodivergent individuals and the parents who care for them in building lives that feel more regulated, connected, and sustainable. She holds a B.A. in Clinical Psychology and an M.A. in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University and is a Licensed Professional Counselor.
She works with neurodivergent children, adolescents, and adults, as well as couples and families. She also specializes in supporting parents of neurodivergent children, helping them better understand their child’s nervous system, behavior, and emotional needs. Her work with parents focuses on strengthening attachment, increasing confidence, reducing burnout, and developing practical, compassionate strategies that honor a child’s unique neurotype rather than trying to change or “fix” them.
Her integrative approach draws from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), person-centered and psychodynamic frameworks, and experiential approaches such as Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). She incorporates neurobiological insights and psychoeducation around the mind–body connection to help both clients and parents understand stress responses, emotional regulation, and relational patterns.
Carla is committed to creating a validating, predictable, and supportive therapeutic environment for neurodivergent clients and their families. Her work emphasizes collaboration, strengths-based care, and practical tools that support regulation, connection, and long-term well-being at both the individual and family level.
