Parent Coaching

Simple, practical strategies to help you support your child with confidence.

Service Description

Parenting is deeply meaningful, but it can also feel overwhelming. Many parents feel unsure how to respond to certain behaviors or wonder if they are “doing it right.” Parent coaching provides a supportive space to reflect & develop practical, compassionate strategies that help both you & your child thrive. Our approach focuses on two core areas: Supporting parents emotionally & developing effective, respectful strategies for children’s behavior & development. Supporting Parents Parenting carries significant responsibility, especially when a child is struggling emotionally, behaviorally, or developmentally. Many parents feel exhausted, worried, or alone. Coaching provides a space to talk openly about what is happening at home & receive support without judgment. We work together to address: • Managing stress, overwhelm, & burnout • Processing difficult parenting moments or ongoing challenges • Navigating feelings of guilt, frustration, or self-doubt • Building confidence in your parenting approach • Strengthening connection with your child When parents feel supported & regulated, it becomes easier to respond calmly & effectively to their child’s needs. Understanding Behavior as Communication Children’s behaviors often reflect underlying needs or skill differences. Challenges with transitions, emotional regulation, communication, or flexibility can show up as meltdowns, shutdowns, or resistance. Coaching helps parents: • Understand the “why” behind behaviors • Create consistent routines & expectations • Support emotional regulation & coping skills • Navigate school, social, & daily transitions • Respond effectively to meltdowns, shutdowns, or big emotions • Strengthen communication & connection Rather than focusing only on discipline, we emphasize skill-building, regulation, & connection. Support for Neurodivergent Children & Families Many families we work with have neurodivergent children, including those who are autistic, ADHD, or have sensory differences. Traditional parenting advice often does not reflect these needs. Parent coaching can help families: • Understand their child’s unique brain & sensory profile • Support regulation during sensory overload or shutdowns • Reduce power struggles & daily stress • Advocate for their child in school or other environments • Create supportive environments where their child can succeed • Identify a plan forward with services once receiving a diagnosis
